Valpo alum Russ Schumacher '01 has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Jeopardy! Battle of the Decades, which celebrates the show's 30th anniversary season.
Six Valpo athletic teams received the NCAA Public Recognition Award for outstanding academic performance. The award is presented to teams that have an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all teams in their respective sport.
Students in the Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) raised $30,137 through the 2014 World Relief Campaign, which was capped with a 5K color run. The campaign helps fund a new artist workshop in Kibera, Kenya, making a direct impact on the village’s economy.

Valpo students crowd the Victory Bell as they await the arrival of New York Mayor John Lindsay in the fall of 1971. To this day, students ring the Victory Bell after Commencement to celebrate their accomplishments.
Read about the James S. Markiewicz Solar Energy Research Facility and groundbreaking solar research at Valparaiso University in The Atlantic. More than 50 Valpo students have collaborated to design and build the SERF, which contains one of only five solar furnaces at United States research facilities.
Student Life
Valpo students raised more than $24,000 for the University’s second annual Dance Marathon, the official philanthropy of the fraternity and sorority community. The funds will support the childhood illness research, education, and prevention, as well as the Family Life Center at Lurie Children's Hospital.
